School Pleas Rejected by Board of Education

The Hillside Teachers Union and PTA Presidents Council urged broader benefits for school employees, but the Board of Education Monday night refused to extend beyond half of the cost of Blue Cross-Blue Shield coverage. The board will fund about half the remaining cost starting Sept 1, about 150 in total, with individual employees able to buy extra coverage for 25. No further benefits will be added until the board revisits the pledge.
