Upsala College Grants Degrees to Seven Hillside Graduates
Upsala College conferred bachelor’s degrees on seven Hillside residents from Millside High School. Recipients are Harris Alper Anthony Kaiser Arser Gold Baron Terry Benesh Valerie Schulman Brien Jerold Goldberg Anthony Kaiser and Arleen Sachs. Ewald B. Lawson, Upsala president, presided at the June 7 ceremony with Dr. Henry P. Van Dusen as commencement speaker.

Fire Rips Through Can Co Stack in Massive Blaze
A spectacular fire at American Car Co on 600 N Union Ave last Wednesday threatened the lithograph department. Overheated ovens ignited a blaze racing through ovens, a cooler, air ducts and into a 200 foot high brick stack. Fire crews from nearby towns assisted as flames rose over 30 feet. Capt. Andre Adamchak sustained facial burns but directed his men and was treated next morning. About 25 shift workers helped extinguish the stubborn fire aided by sprinklers and three plant lines.
