Ukrainian Church Receives Plaques for New Liberty Site

The Ukrainian Church on Liberty avenue and Blay street will place a framed history and a portrait of Rev. Myron Sozanski in its new building. For four years the parish has held Sunday mass and Saturday School at the Elks Lodge quarters on Hillside avenue. Lodge members George Helock Jr and John Andreychin also serve on the church building committee.

Tax Office Opens Two Monday Evenings in Hillside

Hillside tax office will be open Monday evenings August 1 and August 8 from 7 to 8 PM for property owners. Collector John C. Pozar announced the schedule yesterday.

Liquor License Transfer to Fun Fair Bowl Granted

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board approved the transfer of the plenary retail consumption license from Mary Elizabeth Scannell Helpap for Scannell’s Tavern at 1328 North Broad Street to Fun Fair Bowl Inc. The new owners plan to open a bowling alley at 1319 North Broad Street with miniature golf, billiards, a coffee shop and cocktail lounge. Fun Fair Bowl operates eight similar venues nationwide, with headquarters at 12 Broadway New York City and Ruben A. Dankoff as president. Arnold Kent represented the company before the ABC board.

Hadassah to Dedicate Medical Center in Israel August 3

Hillside Chapter of Hadassah will take part in the dedication of the Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center at Kiryat Hadassah near Jerusalem. A dedication page will appear in the Hillside Times the week of October 23 to raise funds for completing and equipping the center.

The Hillside Police Athletic League forms a new board at its building dedication set for 2 p.m. September 17 with an open house to follow. Police Commissioner Louis A. Army officer receives first Oak Leaf for meritorious service
