Variances Granted For Club Additions In City Hearings

Polish American Citizens Club at 400 Bley Street and College Inn at 334 Yale Avenue won variances from the Zoning Board of Adjustment after a June 23 hearing. The Polish club plans a 1712 square foot cocktail lounge and a 1938 square foot dance hall extension. College Inn seeks a 2000 square foot addition for an enlarged meeting room lobby and rest rooms. Both projects require setback relief under the clubs clause of the zoning ordinance. Several objectors appeared at the hearing.

Analysis Shows Property Tax Split in New Jersey

The New Jersey Stat Chamber of Commerce reports that statewide schools take 49.1 percent of the 1960 tax levy, municipal services 33.3 percent, and county functions 17.5 percent. New Baker Street Plan More Costly

The Township Committee plans a fully new Baker Street flood-control project at higher cost, requiring extra appropriation beyond the existing 25000. A separate Baker Street drain from Silver Avenue to the Elizabeth River will replace a detention basin and bids will set the final amount. Construction begins in September after funds and bids are secured.
