Planning Board Recommends Long Range Purchasing Plan

Butane Tank Car Jumps Tracks At Lehigh Valley
A Lehigh Valley Railroad tank car carrying 11 038 gallons of butane gas broke from its siding on the Levington Branch and rolled onto Schacht Steel Corp tracks. It jumped the rails and overturned in a Ramsey Avenue field. Work crews, with police and railroad guards, unloaded the fuel through Thursday night into Friday morning before towing the car away.

Hit and Run Hurts Youth on Columbia and Liberty
Walter Ciesienski, 17, of 508 Mc Michael Place, was struck Sunday at 72h am while crossing Columbia Ave at Liberty Ave by a car that failed to stop. Police say the vehicle, traveling without lights, hit him then fled. Walter limped home and was taken to St Elizabeth Hospital in Elizabeth for bruises to his right knee.

A.P. Morris School Hosts N.J. Symphony String Quartet
Mrs. Monroe Ackermen Cultural Arts Chair of Saybrook P T A has arranged for the String Quartet of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to perform at A P Morris School. Fire alarms hit industrial plants in two incidents
Can Co. damaged firemen responded to two alarms for industrial fires. The first at 2:34 a.m. at American Can Co. 600 N Union Ave caused damage to three paint ovens roof and ducts started by an overheated oven.
