Fishing Program Draws 33 Young Anglers at Echo Lake Park
The first Better Fishing Program led by Township Committeeman Henry Goldhor drew 28 boys and 5 girls aged 7 to 13 at Lower Lake Echo Lake Park from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Prizes went to top catchers with John Karlick and Robert Laws earning outfits, and Grace Giordano and others winning rods. Volunteers included Rotary’s Fred Stengel and Kiwanis’ Dr Harry Brody. Food donations came from Hillside firms and the Fire Department.

The fourth annual Hillside education workshop for teachers principals and nurses will be held at the Senior High School on September 2–3. Township Clerk Extends Registration Hours for November Election
Beginning Thursday, September 4, the Township Clerk’s office will be open 9 am to 6 pm and 7 am to 6 pm on select days to register voters for the November 4 election. Registration deadline is 9 am Thursday, September 25. Voters must claim a year’s New Jersey residence from November 4, 1951, to November 4, 1952, and five months in Union County from June 4, 1952 to Election Day. Truck and two autos collide on Hilldale ramp
A truck pushed one car into another on the Hilldale place ramp to Route 29 Tuesday afternoon. Jacqueline Kinahan 29 of Clark Township complained of neck pain and would seek her own physician. Passenger Thomas J. Rock 25 of Union and Louis Mingo 44 of Newark were uninjured. Police reported the cars halted in the northbound ramp lane when the truck struck Kinahan’s car pushing it into Rock’s vehicle.
