Fire fighters fire back at police over hours dispute
Hillside IAFF Local 1704 rebuts Newark Elizabeth police claims in a public statement. They say their members work 14 hours nightly versus officers 8 to 10 hours and log 136 hours yearly extra duty, arguing police misrepresented facts and that both departments are vital to the town. They urge mutual respect and note dangers and casualties in firefighting.
