Held For Jury On Weapons Charge
Two Newburgh brothers Thomas J. Jefferson 25 and Arthur J. Jefferson 18 were held in 1000 bail each by Magistrate Sidney Birnbaum on a concealed weapon charge. They were jailed in Union County Jail Elizabeth after arrest July 20 on Route 22 while hitchhiking. Arthur had a loaded 22 caliber revolver in a satchel the older brother admitted ownership. They were en route to join their wife and three children visiting in West Virginia.

Nicholas Ritz aged 21 who boarded at 400 Princeton Avenue was released on 100 dollars bail on a petty larceny charge. He is accused of stealing 30 dollars from Mrs Rose Genz pocketbook at her home. Ritz was nabbed by Detective Sgt William Dieroff and Detective Robert Mason in a Liberty Avenue store where he worked. He will be arraigned in Municipal Court August 8.
