Mortgage Burning Planned By Sinai Congregation
Sinai Congregation will burn its mortgage with a dinner and program at Esther Berkowitz Hall on Sunday May 19. Emanuel Finkel, the congregation president, and Abia Mankowicz as general chairman of the special arrangements committee were announced. The old frame building was remodeled in 1950 into a modern house of worship. Maenkowit, active in the congregation for years, has chaired the building fund drive and now chairs the Hebrew School building fund campaign and serves as treasurer.

Domestic Held In Theft Charge
Shirley Williams, 19, of 106 Montgomery Street Newark, was arrested Tuesday on land larceny charges. She admitted stealing $43 in cash and three watches valued at $100 from Mrs. Charlotte Lisman’s home at 227 Wining Avenue, where she worked as a domestic on April 19. Det. Sgt. William Dieroff Sr said bail was set at $200. Detectives Robert Mason and Robert De Prospo made the arrest.
