Jonathan Bell of the Otological Foundation watches as Doris Siegel places a donation into a cannister held by Beverly Helbig the 1969 poster girl. Beverly, a fifth grade student at Hillside Avenue School, will have her picture on all posters in the May 1969 solicitation campaign.
Eugene Saks appointed assistant manager of the Hillside Community Pool for the 1969 season. A Springfield College 1966 graduate with a BA in physical education, he teaches physical education and coaches basketball at Oceanport School and is a Red Cross water safety instructor. Saks previously assisted Linden pool and held waterfront roles at Lohikan Camps and Camp Eagle Cove. He is married to Gail Green and has one son Jeffrey. Frank Naughton noted a few male lifeguard openings and urged interested applicants to contact the pool office.
Philip Levitan of Hillside Lodge announces a Sellathon auction on April 26 at 8:00 p.m. in the War Memorial Building. The sale features cars boats home furnishings gifts clothing and more to raise funds for charitable purposes with a $25 certificate offering credit toward items at the event.
Arne Olson of Maplewood was elected President of the Court Clerks Association of New Jersey at the annual reorganizational meeting in Irvington The slate also included Edith Kern Matawan as Vice President Pat Fitzgerald Summit as Vice President Joseph Carriero Garfield as Treasurer Evelyn Chamberlain Crawford as Secretary Harry Sondin Hillside was named to the Insurance Committee The immediate Past President Justin Leonard Fair Lawn received a gift and Olson announced plans to boost membership.
