Hillside Man Suffered Heart Attack After Hospitalized
Hillside resident John Witte, 53, of 941 Revere Drive, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston last Wednesday night after suffering a heart attack. Police reported multiple incidents including a 19 year old from Elizabeth with a small cut in an accident on North Avenue at Riverside Drive and a recovered stolen 1967 car owned by Rocco Sinatra of Newark. A theft at 559 Yale Avenue saw Miles Frees report a stolen 21 inch TV valued at 369 dollars amid an unlocked rear door, between 6 am Saturday and 3:40 pm Monday.

Hillside Bank Merger Approved To Join Union County Trust
After a four to five month wait the Federal Reserve Board approved the merger of Union County Trust Co and Hillside State Bank by a 4 2 vote. The Hillside State Bank will become the Hillside Branch of Union County Trust Co after a 30 day DOJ window and a May 12 effective date. The merger preserves current staff and directors, adds computer services for Hillside residents, and plans an open house to introduce new services. The State Banking and Insurance Commissioner approved the merger last fall.

Thieves Net 63 In Two Weekend Burglary Incidents
Weekend burglaries at two homes yielded stolen cash. At 210 Dover Ave a rear door glass was broken and $38 taken between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. Mrs. Rose Wienerp reported.
