College honors for Newark and nearby students
A batch of Newark area students received academic honors and honors lists. Leonard Searola and Edward Schmidt du of Newark qualified for academic honors. Paul Rabinowitz named to Dean’s List at NYU College of Arts and Sciences. Philip Kadowicz and Martin Wasserman joined Alpha Zeta Omega at Rutgers College of Pharmacy. Additional students join Dean’s List at RPI, and others begin college programs at Union Junior College and Crandford College in Troy.

Polio vaccine push targets unvaccinated Americans nationwide
Basil O'Connor of The National Foundation warns about a national disgrace as about 85 million people remain unprotected against paralytic polio. Salk vaccination is widely available at low cost with a three shot course and a booste r shot now recommended. The American Medical Association and the U S Public Health Service join the appeal urging immediate vaccination for individuals and families.

Morris-Saybrook Faculty Luncheon Plans Science Exhibit
Morris-Saybrook School PTA agreed at an executive board meeting to hold the regular meeting on Anvil 12 at im. The 7th and 8th grade students will present a science exhibit in the gymnasium with Mrs. Claire Kessler as chairman. Principal David Harris reported Father Son Night was well attended by about 100 fathers and sons from the Union County Judo Club.

Regional PTA Conference in Trenton is on April 12 with several involved members. A resolution on modernizing juvenile detention facilities was adopted for full-time juvenile court judge involvement.
