An unusually attractive matron contested a Municipal Court parking summons near Fun Fair Bowl Evans Terminal and won after photos showed conflicting signs indicating parking allowed 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The case highlights signage confusion and the judge noted the outcome was not based on appearance.
Tax Collector John C. Pozar announced the office will be open for the public on four Monday evenings starting April 17 from 7 to 8 pm. The dates are April 7 and 24 and May 1 and 8.
Archdiocese reports early results from the development campaign as of the first 14 days pledges reach 19336. Christ the King Church has 10540 and St Catherine's 4500 in pledges, announced by Archbishop Bol last week.

Riverview Holding Co. Inc. sought a zoning variance for a 16 family garden apartment near McMichael Place. The Zoning Board backed the plan 3-2, but the Township Committee unanimously rejected it after a public hearing led by Henry Roche and Robert Kirkpatrick. Residents argued it would ruin Hillside’s residential character and strain traffic.
The township considers forming an urban renewal committee to prevent blight amid aging properties and neglect. Realtor Louis Hess urges action to halt deterioration before large scale rehab is needed, citing garages, debris, and investment holdings as risk factors.
Sinai Congregation at 1531 Maple Ave lists Passover schedule for April 6 to 8 with services at 7 p.m, 8:45 a.m, and 6:15 p.m including Yizkor on April 8 at 10:45 a.m. Rabbi Eliezer Cohen will lead and sermons. Other participants include Irving Heir, co chairman, and Harold Silverman, president, with Mr Ades serving as club charities chair.
