Brooks Speaker for Kiwanis: City Hall Should Be Used
High Point city manager C L Brooks urged the Kiwanis to use city hall and noted the new building as a factor drawing him back home. He recalled High Point’s 25 years ago doldrums and cited progress in the museum, theatre, street system, and city limits expansion. He contrasted city government with business, saying laws govern what a city can do and promised honest mistakes.

DCCA Funds Denied For Head Start in Thomasville
Thomasville grant denial by the Depth of Health Education and Welfare affects Davidson County Community Action. Don Walser, executive director, remains hopeful for a 60 child Head Start program this year despite a 1973 and 1974 funding dispute with the state School Food Services. The disallowance, totaling 15000, covered meals judged not meeting USDA rules, including missing sweet milk. Walser says substitutes and unopened milk cartons were involved and that repayment attempts were rejected as “real money.”
