Market slips after prime rate delay amid mixed equity moves

New York stocks retreated after early gains as a hoped rate cut failed to appear. The noon Dow fell 3.29 to 667.47 while the NYSE composite edged down 0.10 to 36.64. Fire Destroys Blow ing Rock Country Club Building

The main clubhouse of Blowing Rock Country Club burned to the ground in an early morning fire.
