Mrs. Cecil Cox presented a program titled Schools Now and Then at the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority gathering held Thursday at Brinwood Restaurant. The event featured reports from committees for the coming year and announced Teresa Moran as the scholarship recipient, with Moran a Puerto Rico student at High Point College. The next meeting will be in Greensboro with combined chapters for Founders Day.

Benefit Plans Told By Double M Club
The Double M Club of Adams Memorial YWCA on Gatewood Avenue will sponsor a luncheon bridge and canasta benefit on Sept 17 from 10 to 2. Luncheon features ham biscuits congealed salad potato chips and homemade pies and cakes. Members will model fashions from John T Ellis with table and door prizes. Tickets available at the door or from Mrs Clarence Keener. The Lazy Daisy Shop will arrange flowers for the event which supports a needy family for one year and civic projects.

Mrs. R. W. Chamblee spoke on accentuating the positive in regard to women’s clothes at the Midweek Extension Homemakers Club on Montlieu Avenue. She urged using best features, color, design and texture to improve appearance while noting design can attract attention and that small design touches help figure proportions. A devotional followed. business session led to notices of the Southern Living Christmas Show in Charlotte November 13 17 and a dress fitting workshop in Greensboro September 11 with the Guilford County Fair planned for October 22.

One Man Exhibit Opens At UNCG Gallery
Horace Farlowe opens a Weatherspoon Gallery season with a solo show featuring stone metal and marble female torso sculptures plus about 25 non objective drawings. Outside, Cirilo III a large steel sculpture sits on the lawn. Farlowe a UNCG art instructor, has works in Mint Museum and NC Museum of Art. The exhibit runs through Oct 6 with free admission.
