Dole Denies Accepting Gulf Contributions

Republican vice presidential candidate Bob Dole testified before a February grand jury probing Gulf Oil illegal contributions. He denied accepting funds from Gulf or Senator Hugh Scott and described questions about a 1970 two thousand dollar check stub. Also reports cited other senators questioned in the Scott Gulf matter and Trudeau left Italy for Montreal after visits with leaders and the pope.

Moon's Backers Being Deported

Washington AP Immigation authorities ordered steps to begin deportation proceedings against hundreds of Moon followers abroad. The Unification Church says about 700 foreign adherents plan voluntary return, with the final festival set for Sept 18 at the Washington Monument. INS says deportations of Moon disciples who stay will have no higher priority than other illegal aliens.
