Greensboro uses federal revenue sharing funds
Guilford County spent 3.29 million dollars in federal revenue sharing funds in 1975-76. Of this, 2.5 million went to county schools for construction projects and 730 thousand funded the purchase of a former bank building in downtown Greensboro for the Department of Social Services. County finance director Thomas Cashwell said the funds avoided tax increases and new debts, noting the year began with 1.15 million in available revenue sharing funds and received 2.23 million from the federal government.

Local voters head to the Sept. 14 Democratic primary as Lee claims a lead over Jimmy Green with a recent six-figure fundraising tally. He accuses Green of ties to special interests while Green and John M. Jordan deny any wrongdoing in post primary endorsement deals. The State Board of Elections declined to investigate, citing an insufficient formal complaint.
