Pension Checks Late Nobody To Blame
Local Social Security officials faced questions about missing October checks for several recipients. Postmaster Lynn Blackwood said the mail team did not receive the checks for delivery as planned. Bob Green explained a change in mauling dates, aiming to advance delivery when the 3rd falls on a weekend or holiday. The 3rd this month was Sunday, but many checks did not arrive for Friday delivery. Blackwood noted about half the usual Social Security mail was received before 5 10 a m, with no further mail until the next day, though most checks were expected to arrive and be delivered today.
