At Ford Motor Co in St Louis a heavy picket line failed to stop production as 474 workers entered the plant in 137 automobiles. Police kept order at dawn and a few stones were thrown while Desmond Garst warned of more hard action.
Lillington Nov 26 The Iodwin case is on its way to the jury as Lina Pope Godwin widow of Furman F Godwin stands trial for a second time on a murder charge. The state contends she shot her husband a World War veteran and planted a gun while wounding herself to feign self defense. Godwin testified she shot in self defense when he, drunk and firing, threatened her life. The trial began Monday.
Capus M. Waynick, director of purchase and contract for North Carolina, will return to High Point to edit The Enterprise on December 15. John Mebane, city editor since 1930, will be associate editor. Governor Hoey praised Waynick’s service and noted a successor will be named soon.
A caesarean birth minutes after the 19 year old mother, Mrs. Robert E. Helms, died from an acute cardiac condition. The baby, weighing 3 pounds 12 ounces, was alive in an incubator 60 hours later with doctors saying the infant is getting on fine and has a fair chance to live and grow.
Fisher body division of General Motors resumes work at the Pontiac plant in Michigan with 2,000 employees returning after a five day sit down strike. The full 5,000 remaining workers are set to report on Monday as the Pontiac motor car factory prepares to reopen early next week.
New York November 26 The Dun and Bradstreet report finds freezing temperatures boosted winter buying in some areas while others lagged behind last year. Fall garments coats knit dresses and sweaters led women s wear with stronger demand for men s wear furnishings and jewelry. Trade gains slowed recession with some divisions down all week and some not reopening after Thanksgiving.
Shanghai reports Japan tightens control of all Chinese government communications in the International Settlement and native Shanghai while spearhead units push toward Nanking. Chiang Kai-shek vows to resist as Japanese claim a quick collapse of his regime and warn of incursions deeper along the Yangtze. Refugees flood rice shops as relief ships bring 85 000 bags with another 33 000 bags en route.
Three young gunmen attempted to rob Claymount Trust Company in Clarmont Delaware near the Pennsylvania line. One carried a machine gun and another a pistol. Miss Esther White, a clerk, discharged tear gas in the lobby, stopping the holdup. The bandits fled in a waiting car toward Philadelphia.

Funeral services for James Ramsay MacDonald son of a Scottish farmer and former British prime minister were held at Westminster Abbey London. The Duke of Gloucester led a large procession of notables including 15 cabinet members. MacDonald died November 9 en route to South America at age 71.
A Tokyo paper cites Tauranga dispatches claiming about 1500 Soviet airplanes massed in Siberia near Japan with 1000 bombers entering China via Stanfu to aid China. Reports also say submarines being rushed to Vladivostok and Trans Siberian railways expanded.

Insurgents accuse French complicity amid border threats.
Secretary of State Cordell Hull told a federal court that Florida s cement inspection law threatens the federal program of reciprocal trade treaties. The Florida statute, upheld by the state supreme court, imposes a 15 cent per 100 pounds inspection fee on cement imported from foreign countries. Singo Trading Co of New York, importing cement from Belgium and Denmark, filed the constitutional challenge.
In Cleveland on November 26, striking drivers cripple Pennsylvania Greyhound lines in Philadelphia. Schedules cut up to 25 percent across a 16 state area. Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen leader Harvey says eight lines are nearly 100 percent effective. Company spokesman Cochrane notes standstill only in Philadelphia and the main impact is the Philadelphia to New York route. Labor conciliator Conner planned separate talks with Harvey and Greyhound, but meetings await Bowen’s return to Cleveland.
Tropical radio reported that the 17 crewmen remaining aboard the British freighter Nollington Court, in distress off Haiti, were rescued. The ship was a total loss, with tug Killeree and steamer City of Manchester relaying confirmation that all lives were saved.
Secretary William T Ritter of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce said a French cigarette paper company rejected facilities in Durham and Winston-Salem but is considering a site near Asheville. The project would cost about $6,000,000 and employ 400 to 500 workers after six French engineers inspected the sites and rejected the Durham and Winston-Salem locations due to water-clarity and cost concerns.
The treasury announced its third export of gold to France totaling 5 million dollars. This shipment leaves the U S for France Tuesday, lifting monthly exports to France to 25 million dollars. An additional 5 million dollars of gold has been shipped to England.
