Desperado McHarge Shot Deputy Propst in Kannapolis

In Kannapolis last night Lee McHarge shot and killed Deputy Sheriff Will Propst and wounded three officers and a civilian. McHarge is in Cabarrus jail and to be moved to Rowan for murder indictment. Police officers Bostian and others were wounded. Propst to be buried in Salisbury.

SALISBURY, Nov. 17. The salary of Rev. John F. Kirk, pastor of First Methodist church, this city, has been increased from 3000 to 4000 dollars. Mr. Kirk has recently returned to this charge for his second year.

Funeral for J S Clark Held at Home and Oakwood Cemetery

The funeral of John Sidnay Clark who died after several months of illness was conducted at 417 Mangum Avenue yesterday afternoon by Rev. Charles P. Cober of the First Presbyterian church and Ensign Thomas of the Salvation Army post. Interment followed at Oakwood cemetery. Clark left a widow six children a brother and a sister.

A prisoner from Sedalia Missouri was sentenced to five years in prison for shooting his wife at her home near El Dorado Springs. The incident occurred after he fled on a train to Pilot Grove, Missouri, where he was captured and handcuffed.
