Southern Film Extruders IPO Closes At Premium On First Day
Willis C. Harris, chairman, travels to New York to receive a check for nearly one million dollars after the completion of the company’s initial public offering of 110 000 shares. Thomson & McKinnon Inc. underwrote the issue and Harris accepted the funds as the stock opened above par on its debut. Proceeds will fund expansion of production facilities and capital. The company, founded in 1965, extrudes polyethylene film sold mainly to southeastern U S converters and manufacturers. Thomson & McKinnon operates 43 offices nationwide with North Carolina branches in High Point, Winston Salem, and Shelby.
