North Carolina Escapee Seeks Freedom in Baltimore

John Henry Jones, 41, who escaped a 1956 North Carolina prison camp, asks Baltimore court not to extradite claiming he has reformed. Judge grants release on own recognizance pending May 30 hearing as officer notes 16 years without trouble and Jones cites obligations to Baltimore and his pastor.

National Society seeks nationwide ban on fireworks
