Forsyth School Plan Is Argued in Federal Court

A federal judge heard the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Board of Education proposal to run eight all white and eight all Negro elementary schools next year. Plaintiffs objected as the 16 schools are now integrated with Negro enrollment 18 to 30 percent. The plan would revert to pre 1971 72 conditions. Board lawyers say 351 buses would drop by 100 and bus miles by 4200 daily reducing riders by about 4000. Judge Gordon took the case under advisement with a decision in weeks.
