The parents announce two engagements. Miss Betty Sue Hall will wed Clay M. Poole Jr. with a planned Aug 30 at Ralph Hall’s home in High Point. Evelyn Brinkley to Samuel R. Odom plans a July wedding at Woodlawn Baptist Church.
New officers of VFW Post 1960 and its auxiliary unit will be installed at a joint meeting tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the post home on W. Burton Street. A covered dish supper will be held prior to the installation and will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Pine Hill Garden Club schedules a bridge canasta luncheon at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Capt. Finn's Restaurant on Greensboro Road.
The Wild Flower Garden Club will hold its annual picnic on Thursday at the W. H. English home located at 1008 Westwood Ave. A note on heirloom washing mentions a simple method with a sudsy sponge and a brief dip in suds and water.
Miss Virginia Louise Walker of Richmond will marry Rev. David F. Jarvis II of High Point North Carolina on August 3 at Centenary Methodist Church Richmond. Jarvis is associate minister of Wesley Memorial Church in High Point and son of Mr and Mrs Jarvis of Newport News. Walker is a senior at Mary Washington College Fredericksburg.
Delray Beach Florida Mrs Arthur McCarrens of Delray Beach and South Dartmouth Massachusetts announce the engagement of their daughter Katherine to Willie Arthur Shirley son of Mr and Mrs James Hall Shirley of High Point North Carolina The bride elect is a graduate of Rosarian Academy West Palm Beach and Ringling Art School Sarasota He is a High Point Central High School graduate attended Appalachian State Teachers College and Ringling Art School served in the U S Army and is with Dorothy Draper Interior Decorating and Design Co in New York. They plan to wed June 22 in South Dartmouth.
Announcement states Miss Calista Jean Taylor and Bill Raymond Nichols plan marriage. Taylor, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Gilmer Taylor of 1409 Ragan Street Greensboro, is a secretary at J P Stevens and Co Inc. Nichols, son of Mr Frank Nichols of Greensboro, is a lab technician at P Lorillard and Co in Greensboro. They will marry in Greensboro.
