Supreme Court overturns Louisiana court contempt rulings

The Supreme Court unanimously overturns jail sentences given to three Negroes who refused to move from the white section of a courtroom in East Baton Rouge Parish Louisiana on November 29 1962. Supreme Court limits dues use for political purposes

The court ruled that railroad workers cannot be forced to fund political spending through union dues. Justice Brennan announced the decision affecting about 30 North Carolina Southern Railway employees, with Justice Harlan dissenting in part and Justice Goldberg recusing.
