Apr rejecting the prosecution s Call for the death sentence a jury saturday recommended life in prison for Ernest John Dobbert jr., convicted in the torture deaths of two of his children. Jurors said they thought Dobbert a muscular labourer would suffer More by living in prison than dying in the electric chair. Dobbert sat emotionless As he heard the recommendation. Just As As he had Friday night when the jury declared him guilty of first and second decree murder. He was found guilty of first degree murder in the death of Kelley 9. And of second degree murder in the slaying of Ryder 7. He was also convicted of torturing Ernest John Iii 13, and abusing Honore 7. The jury of seven men and five women deliberated for less than 15 minutes and then voted 10-2 to recommend a life sentence. But the jury a recommendation is not mandatory.
