Guilford Delegation Seeks Zoning and Civil Service Reforms
The Guilford delegation files two bills in the General Assembly. A zoning enabling act lets rural Guilford County areas petition the County Commissioners to form boundaries and zoning rules with a local zoning commission and penalties for violations. A Senate-amended carve out excludes areas within one mile of High Point and Greensboro corporate limits. A second bill would raise the local civil service commission from five to seven members, create six year terms with two-party representation, and raise compensation from two to five dollars per meeting (up to ten dollars monthly).
