Kay Stanley aims to restore fun in toys over education
Kay Stanley, a leading toy manufacturer, argues the industry overemphasizes educational value and pressures children with teaching toys. She recalls starting in Chicago in 1941, built a firm with 200 employees and annual toy sales around two million dollars, and notes her cake mix toy line and other sets push children to imitate parental activities on a smaller scale. She labels toys as educational to aid selling and hints at a secret future project that aims to entertain without instruction.
