Westbury New York June 28 AP Jack Ashcraft professional pilot killed and Miss Viola Gentry the flying cashier badly injured when their biplane attempting to set an endurance record crashed into a hickory tree near a nursery 200 feet from a turnpike. Ashcraft 33 born in Protection Kansas crashed after takeoff from Roosevelt field with 118 gallons of gasoline fog obscured field. Gentry previously set an endurance solo record for women fliers in 1928 over Roosevelt field and had recent air activity last week.

Alligator Attacks Two Boys at Florida Golf Course
In Clearwater Florida on June 28 a large alligator killed eight year old John Freddy and nine year old Norman Gold after pulling them into a water hazard at a local golf course. Their four year old brother alerted nearby golfers who recovered the bodies and found the gator still in the hazard. The boys had been playing with toy boats when the incident occurred.
