Allied powers face a comparative lull as leaders await renewal of offensives on the western and Italian fronts. Reports note quiet sectors with strategic patience prevailing and signals of potential renewed action forthcoming.
Front reports say American troops seized a commanding hill near Belleau Wood northwest of Chateau Thierry, taking 264 prisoners including seven officers. Air combat rises with 36 German planes downed. Berlin claims 12 Allied planes destroyed.

He said he would seek a vote on the resolution tomorrow after House managers refused to accept the amendment and a deadlock ensued.
The annual summer conference of ministers from the Methodist Protestant church in North Carolina adjourned after a productive session at the Children's Home. The body agreed to raise funds to pay off 5500 in indebtedness and to purchase a new acre of ground for the home farm, with twenty four ministers volunteering to campaign for support. The gathering featured sermons and addresses on church duties, crisis challenges, and ministry functions, drawing the largest attendance in the group's history.

Washington June 27 Draft officials conducted the numbers draw to determine the order of call for the class of 1918 registrants. Secretary Baker drew capsule numbers ending with 248, 1186, and 815 as examples, with the full list naming 1 through 122 in order of liability. The process lasted under three hours in the senate office building conference room.
The High Point Limit Club lists 62 members including M. J. Wrenn Welch Furniture J. Hd Millis R. O. Lindsay High Point Hosiery mills and many firms. Chairman Wescott Roberson noted more names may be added and urged reporting any omissions to the committee.
