North Carolina House and Senate Back Tough Robbery Penalties
The NC Senate and House give tentative approvals to bills increasing penalties for armed robbery and vending machine tampering. A five year minimum prison term without parole passes the House 97-8, while a separate vending machine bill would make theft attempts a felony. Also approved are a minor treatment consent measure on second reading, bicycle traffic law updates, and a balanced budget requirement to go to voters.
