Veteran textile man recalls strides in High Point silk mill
Isaac Fidler, an early Stehli SilkWorks engineer, visited the High Point plant to reminisce with longtime staff. He recalled the 260 looms, the move from humid conditions to modern automation, and the shift from imported raw silk to synthetic fibers. Burlington Mills now runs a 197000 square foot facility with 572 looms producing 13 million yards annually, while costs have dropped from 2.50 to 2.80 per yard to far less today.
