W. J. Ashbaugh, chairman of the State Blind Committee, urges Lions clubs to aid the blind, noting surveys show about two per thousand residents are blind. He cites practical club projects such as surveying, buying glasses for school children, assisting near blind workers, and cooperating with health boards to prevent blindness.
Working for Blind
Pictured above are two of the many persons in North Carolina who are working in behalf of the blind of this state. Top left is sion for the Blind. Top right is Wv. J. Through his untiring efforts, two men have been established in news-stands. While we feel that our growth has been rapid, still we know that it never could have been ac complished without the co-opera tion and assistance given us by our various welfare groups, our state commission for the blind, our state rehabilitation depart ment, the various Lions clubs, and other civic organizations from which we have always received loyal support.
