At 2 o clock twelve city precincts reported 2157 votes with Clyde R Hoey leading over Dr Ralph W McDonald. Precinct tallies ranged from 144 to 335 as observers noted strict marking rules and tense poll activity before a final result tonight.
Washington June 6 Conferees reached agreement on a long disputed anti price discrimination bill. The Robinson bill would empower the Federal Trade Commission to limit quantity discounts where monopoly exists and ban false discounts for brokerage fees. The Borah amendment provides a criminal case route for competitors who feel unfairly discriminated against without FTC action.
An oil well near Corpus Christi erupted spilling mud and salt water into Petronite creek. About 10 000 barrels of oil escaped but was recovered by over 20 men along eight miles of banks. A farmer filled a concrete silo two thirds with captured oil.

Willard Foust an 18 year old youth is jailed in Asheboro on breaking and entering charges tied to the Dry Cleaning company thefts three months ago. Police say four suites were taken two recovered, and Foust is held pending further investigation by Chief Dewey Bulla and Officer P F Miller. His brother Leonard, earlier jailed, faces related b charges as officers recover a clothing and pocketbook from a home.
