Curbing Strike Measures Backed in House Strong Support
In Washington on June 4, lawmakers voiced strong support for an administration plan to curb strikes in government run industries led by an expanded labor bill. The Ramspeck drafted proposal targets strike leaders with a 5000 dollar fine and up to one year in prison, while reinforcing the War Labor Board and presidential seizure authority. It applies broadly but focuses on coal mine disputes and stops short of denying workers the right to quit or refuse to return.

Winning the War by Albert Leman
An analysis argues that the Luftwaffe's weakness is offset by strong Italian naval power. It notes Admiral Bergamini commands several battleships and many cruisers and destroyers. The Littorio class dreadnought and possible sister ships Rome and Impero could threaten Allied convoys unless countered by air or surface forces.
