Omen review hails chilling horror and Damien’s menace
The Omen opens at Towne Theatre in a polished classic horror with Gregory Peck and Lee Remick. Director Richard Donner and writer David Seltzer craft a demoniac monster and a sequence of brutal, quasi sacrificial deaths that probe paranoia about the occult in a Rome London setting. Damien, the ambassador's son, remains an ambivalent figure as a governess death and a series of ominous events unfold, aided by Jerry Goldsmith’s eerie score. The piece lauds the film as a tightly woven, unnerving experience and notes its box office appeal.
