Carter Pledges To Champion Business and Consumers
In Plains Georgia and at a New York luncheon Carter promises to back a foreign tax credit for U.S. firms abroad while favoring tax reform and consumer interests. He says he can be both business ally and consumer advocate, and urges a careful, broad tax overhaul with no special favors. Carter cites continued foreign investment and job creation as balancing effects of multinational activity. Attendees include Lewis Foy of Bethlehem Steel and Henry Ford of Ford Motor Co.
