Mixed stock market on weaker rate hopes and Citi hold
The noon Dow fell 33 to 990.75 as gains barely outpaced losses on the NYSE with a 0.6 point overall index rise. Citibank kept loan rates at 7 percent, dampening expectations of a prime rate cut despite a Fed money supply decline. Northwest Airlines led Big Board activity, though shares fell 4 to 34.4 after a 115000 share block faded. The NYSE composite rose 0.6 points to 556. Eastman Kodak slipped 1% to 95 1/4 amid damp earnings mood from midweek results.
