Hope Dims For End Of Strike At Pickett Cotton Mill
Robert A. Parker of the Textile Workers Union said there is little prospect for reopening negotiations with Pickett Cotton Mill officials for at least a week. He noted a Greensboro session mediated by Federal Conciliator Seth Brewer was disappointing as neither side moved toward settlement. The 13 week strike began April 13 over proposed wage cuts of four cents an hour for production workers and 16 percent for frame hands. Parker said there is nothing to do but continue the strike and pursue talks.
