Six Die In Raeford Head On Collision Near Raeford
Six persons including five teenagers were killed in a midnight head-on crash of a car and a 14 ton truck on Highway 15 A three miles south of Raeford North Carolina. The truck driver is in critical condition in Laurinburg hospital identified as William Emon Lassiter. Names of the dead include Fennius Alfonzo Olive Billy Joe Clark Robert Neal Currie James William Blue John Archie Blue and Robert Easterling all of Raeford. Coroner James C Lentz said an inquest would be held later and a mass funeral was set for Bethel Presbyterian Church near Raeford.

Mrs Charles H Babcock of Winston Salem heir to the Reynolds tobacco fortune died in a New York City hospital. She was 44 and had abdominal cancer. Committee Upholds Major Cut in Foreign Aid Funding
