John Olsen of the Olsen and Johnson comedy team died at 71 from a kidney ailment in Bataan Memorial Hospital after recent surgery. He and partner Chic Johnson were vaudeville and Broadway stars known for Hellzapoppin and a half century of show business across stage, film, radio, and television. Olsen, born in Peru Indiana, had lived with his daughter in Wichita Kansas, and the pair rose to fame on Broadway in 1939 amid their trademark humor.
