Development Month Set at First Baptist Thomasville

A month long Christian Development effort starts Sunday at First Baptist Church Thomasville. The program, backed by an annual stewardship record and eight committees, urges tithing time and talents. Events include Demonstration Day, a February 14 church dinner at the National Guard Armory for members nine and older, a children's party, a Dixie Columns performance, and an inspirational message by Dr. Carl E. Bates of Charlotte’s First Baptist Church.

Space-Age Parish Chaplain Travels 200000 Miles A Year

Cape Canaveral Fla Rev Joseph A Keiper serves as space-age circuit riding chaplain for the Atlantic Missile Range. He logs about 200000 miles yearly visiting 1300 workers at dozen tracking stations from Cape Canaveral to Pretoria. He holds services in mess halls theaters and even bars. He is a non denominational Methodist who studies many theologies to converse with all faiths. He became industrial chaplain in 1956 and has provided counseling baptisms and on the spot funeral services for fallen workers.

Youth Sunday highlights at High Point Quaker Meeting

Dr. O Herschel Folger will guest minister during Youth Sunday at High Point Friends Meeting Quaker Lane. He has led Quaker congregations in Wilmington Ohio Indianapolis Whittier and Greensboro and now works with Guilford College. Youth Barbecue hosted by Young Friends in Ragan Hall set for Feb 3. The Very Rev George M Alexander To Address Episcopalians

The Very Rev George M Alexander Dean of The School of Theology Sewanee will address St Marys Parish during the 11 am service on Sunday Jan 27 for Theological Education Sunday. He will discuss Sewanee Episcopal University Theological School work and program and take questions at a coffee period after the service. Nazarene Revival Is Slated

Rev. Charles L. Thompson of Greensboro will lead Calvary Church of The Nazarene revival services sponsored by the church young people January 27 through February 3. Evening services start at 7 30. Thompson, a former Calvary member, attended Hasty High School and Southern Pilgrim College. His wife is Mary Vestal of Thomasville. He lived on Centennial Street and worked for James Inc before ministry. His first pastorate was Kannapolis West Side Church of the Nazarene and he now pastors First Church of the Nazarene on Spring Garden Street in Greensboro. Kenneth Williams, Young Peoples president, welcomes the opportunity to hear Rev Thompson.

Missionaries Give Final Services at Lexington Ave Baptist

Rev and Mrs Charles Allen dying missionaries to Guatemala will preach at 7 30 pm in Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in what is billed as their last Sunday in the United States before returning home Rev Allen a Fayetteville native and Wake Forest and Southeastern Seminary graduate Mrs Allen the daughter of Dan Short of High Point also a Wake Forest alumna and Southeastern Seminary attendee have toured churches along the Atlantic seaboard since last summer due to Mrs Allens mother's illness A fellowship hour will follow the service to honor the Allens

Baptists Celebrate Men’s Day At Rich Fork Church

Rich Fork Baptist Church will observe Men’s Day on Sunday at 11 am with Jimmy Edwards delivering the message and Bob Porter as guest soloist. The event, part of Southern Baptist Convention observances, marks a date shift from Layman’s Day to recognize church men and to reestablish Man’s Day traditions from thirty years ago.
