A criminal Superior Court session opens Monday with Judge Frank Armstrong. Thomas Eugene Sharpe, 36, and his father Jerry Thomas Sharpe, 62, both of S Elm Street, are charged with murder in the September 1971 shooting.
Pam Swift, a senior at Allen Jay High School, named Youth of the Month by the High Point Youth Council and DAR Good Citizen. She plans to study early childhood education at High Point College and holds multiple school offices. Also reported: Hobart L. Slate death and a shooting case at Ralph's Grill. several local drug and weapons charges with trials set for next week.
Betty Evans daughter of Raymond Evans of 731 Washington Drive High Point North Carolina has been awarded a scholarship to Burlington County College in Pemberton New Jersey. She will pursue an associate of arts degree in early childhood education and has been promoted to developmental intern at D E P T H Day Care in Burlington New Jersey.
Friends of Lt Comdr David Allen Culler establish a perpetual scholarship at High Point College in his memory. Culler, Class of 1963 and High Point native, died at 33 in a Jacksonville Florida plane crash after two Vietnam tours. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and multiple air medals. Contributions go to the Alumni Office at High Point College for need-based awards.
