Warren Is To Chair State Higher Education Study Panel
Lindsay Warrenty of Goldsboro has been named chairman of a study committee on higher education in North Carolina. Gov. Bob Scott announced the appointment from Asheville, charging the panel with drafting a comprehensive plan to restructure higher education, including a statewide board of trustees or regents for the 15 state supported universities. The panel will include representatives from each state university plus five UNC Board of Trustees and five state Higher Education Board members. A UNC trustee subcommittee led by Victor Bryant began its own in-depth study to formulate a position on potential reorganization and will report to the executive committee.
