Nature of the Kingdom Parables in Sunday School Lesson

The lesson explains Jesus parables about God's reign using Matthew and Mark passages. It warns readers to stick to Jesus’ own interpretations, focus on single truths per parable, and avoid forcing the gospel into Judaic law, noting how mustard seed and leaven depict quiet, expansive growth of faith and Christianity.

Fasting, faith, and the coming of God's kingdom in Christian teaching

The passage discusses interpreting Scriptural metaphors within their frames of reference. Jesus compares disciples to friends of a bridegroom, noting fasting will be voluntary when he is absent. Fasting arises from need, not command, reflecting old law versus the gospel, and the spread of Christ’s ideas shapes society. Features Syndicate.

Mind Games: Religion Surpasses Sex in Thought Study

University of Louisville psychologist Dr. Paul D. Cameron reported results from a survey of 3,416 people asking what they thought about in the last five minutes. Findings show religion thoughts occur about twice as often as sexual thoughts across age groups, with specifics by age: 18-25 think of sex every 10 minutes and religion every 25, while over 65 think of sex once an hour and religion every 10 minutes. Middle-aged minds mix religion about every 15 minutes, sex about every 35, and even thoughts of pets. The piece notes broader cultural ties to sports and politics, gender differences in happiness at work, and calls for further study of emotional factors beyond guilt and well-being.

Mental Giants Could Buy Willpower If It Existed

If willpower were a purchasable commodity in this life, people would become mighty personalities. The idea playfully questions whether self discipline is a marketable trait and suggests that true resolve cannot be bought.

Clergy and clergy titles contrasted with Bible use

The piece argues that clergy and titles like Reverend are man made not biblical. It cites passages about servanthood and following Christ, urging Believers to test teachings by scripture. It emphasizes that only God's words are infallible and the Bereans searched the Scriptures daily to verify truth.
