Mystique Island liner deemed total loss after grounding

Grand Jury Postponed Over NC Board Hearing on Election Tie
RALEIGH AP Possible grand jury action on alleged irregularities in the Columbus County election will be delayed awaiting a Tuesday North Carolina Board of Elections hearing. U.S. Attorney Warren Coolidge said the pre sentation to the grand jury was postponed at Whiteville and transcripts from the board hearing will be turned over for state prosecution consideration. The dispute surrounds the House race between Democrat Arthur Williamson and Republican Thomas Harrelson, tied after a spoiled ballot in South Lees precinct prompted the board to decide how to count it. The General Assembly was not expected to act until the board certifies the outcome.
