Message in a Bottle Reaches Nine-Year-Old Free Spirits
Philip Brown of Erie, Pennsylvania, mailed a message in a bottle from the Cayman Islands on April 1, 1975. Two French girls on Ile de Groix found it Feb 5, 22 months later and learned the sender’s age by correspondence. The girls, ages nine, sparked a lasting pen pal friendship despite the age gap.
