NCNB to transfer Rich to Pinehurst office
NCNB announced Dean A. Rich will transfer from High Point to Pinehurst to head the bank’s new trust department in the proposed Pinehurst office. Bernard A. Heeke will succeed Rich as High Point trust department manager. Heeke is a vice president and former IRS attorney with prior NCNB roles. The Pinehurst offices could open around April 15.

Police Charge 10 Year Old in Shooting Near Shelby
A 10 year old boy was arrested and charged in the February 10 highway shooting of 10 year old Tammy Spangler near Shelby. Police called the incident a freak accident and did not release the boy's name. Tammy Spangler is reported recovering.
