When the Catalogue Loses Its Spark for an Old Reader

A humorous aging piece recalls how the mail order catalogue once shaped daily life with appliances, clothing and home projects. The narrator laments waning interest, notes fond memories of washers and dryers, and jokes about Playboy rivalries as a sign of changing tastes. The hope remains that the catalogue may yet revive before a possible fridge failure prompts renewed browsing.

The Lives Of The Children Are Touched

A stark summary contrasts warm family life with brutal child abuse. The piece cites cases where infants are harmed, including burning and severe injuries, leaving readers to confront violence within homes and the medical response. It emphasizes the contrast between affection and cruelty in parenting.

Brutal Child Abuse Stories Highlight Need for Help

The piece links rising reports of child abuse across the nation to medical caution and parental self-help groups. It contrasts loving caregiving with violent acts, arguing that not all parents prove fit to raise a child and that love is essential for a child's survival.
